The two of us visited here in early October 2023 as part of our tour of North Vietnam. We keep unforgettable memories of our visit to Nam Ly Retreat. Don Lee, the owner, personally drove us from Hanoi to the retreat in an incredible drive over a beautiful but impassable road. What an adventure. The view from the retreat is fairytale-like. The rice fields that were about to be harvested, the waterfall you could see and hear, the tranquillity and the kindness and helpfulness of Don Lee and his team. The first night we slept in the tent, but the second night we preferred the more comfortable private room. It's basic, but good. You don't go here for luxury, but for nature, tranquillity and peace. We spent a day hiking with wonderfully nice locals and had lunch at their home. What an experience. In short, Nam Ly is amazing and the retreat people and local guides are our heroes!
